Scene It
Scene it
Four amateur dramatic companies working together on one performance - was this a first?
Scene it was a project involving small, non-professional theatre groups from across West Sussex, working with professional theatre practitioners to create an evening’s performance that was showcased at The Capitol, Horsham on Sunday 8 June 2008.
The groups involved were Barchester Players, Pitchy Breath, Manor Theatre and Four of One Six of Another, all of whom attended a day of workshops to launch the project which was hosted by Chichester Festival Theatre.
The workshop and rehearsal process were a great success, and it is hoped that if project organisers West Sussex Arts Partnership can secure future funding it will be repeated, opening it up to more groups from across the county.
Project leader Luna Russell said:
“It was great to see director David Heley taking the groups under his wing to produce an entertaining evening’s theatre performance. All of the groups worked extremely hard on devising a selection of original pieces which David pulled together, entwining them into one performance.”
MANOR THEATRE's contributions were: KEEP THE HOME FIRES BURNING - Written and directed by Suzanne Cottingham,
A LIFE OF FLAVOUR - written and directed by Craig Bunce, 15 MINUTES OF... written and directed by Roger Kidd,
and A ROAD LESS TRAVELLED written by Katie Felton
